Amer reflects on Product Arena - One of the most challenging and rewarding projects of his career

To kick-start the conversation, we asked Amer to share his experience with the Product Arena project. We were curious about what it was like to lead such a massive undertaking and what challenges he faced along the way. His response was as candid as it was insightful.

In November, the team at Tech387 embarked on what was set to be the most thrilling project of the year - Product Arena, the first three-month paid internship. I was eager to dive headfirst into the challenge that lay ahead.

However, the grand event did not come without its share of setbacks. With only weeks to go before the kick-off, one of my trusted colleagues, Nelly, left the company, leaving me to shoulder the immense responsibility on my own. It was a daunting task, but with the unwavering support of my colleagues from the marketing and finances department, I rallied to lead the team toward victory.

The following months were a rollercoaster of triumphs and obstacles, but I persevered through every hurdle, never giving up even when the going got tough. The experience helped me learn significant leadership and problem-solving skills, making me a more knowledgeable and capable professional.

Despite the challenges, the team's hard work paid off, and the 30 interns that joined our team were exceptional. It was a joy to witness their growth, and I am confident they gained invaluable knowledge and experience during their time with us. We look forward to seeing the great things that they will achieve in the future!

From growing up in the States to succeeding as a career-driven professional and natural people person

As a skilled people operations manager, a large part of Amer's success comes from his innate talent for connecting with others. We were eager to learn more about the unique qualities that set him apart in his field, as well as how his upbringing and experiences have influenced his professional path.

As a child, I had the opportunity to live in the United States. This experience would prove to be significant in shaping my worldview. Growing up in a foreign country exposed me to different cultures and ways of life. This early exposure instilled a deep sensitivity toward others and a curiosity to learn more about the world. My experience attending kindergarten and preschool in the United States was particularly formative. It was here that I first experienced a culture that was different from my own, and it was both fascinating and eye-opening. Although I was very young, I have vivid memories of this time in my life, and I believe it played a crucial role in shaping my perspective on the world.

I am pursuing my Bachelor of Arts in Economics from the esteemed Faculty of Economics in Sarajevo. I must admit that academia has not always been my cup of tea. As such, I have experienced some delays in my formal education. However, I do not let this discourage me from pursuing my goals and ambitions. While I may not enjoy traditional academic pursuits, I am passionate about real-world experiences and constantly strive to learn and grow through hands-on experiences and practical applications. My passion for working has been a constant throughout my life. During high school, I even had the opportunity to work as a tour guide for Arabs visiting our beautiful country. Through this experience, I gained valuable communication, hospitality, and problem-solving skills, all of which have proven invaluable on my career path. 

Having a meaningful connection with people has always come naturally to me. I can easily find common ground with everyone. In fact, it's one of the most rewarding aspects of my life. 

On a personal note, my biggest achievement to date is my upcoming wedding to my beautiful fiance, who has been an incredible support throughout my professional journey. We are excitedly counting down the days until we say our vows in May.

Amer's exciting journey at Tech387

We were eager to learn more about Amer's career trajectory. With this in mind, we asked Amer to impart his wisdom and provide advice for those pursuing a similar career path.

In 2021, I got accepted for the position of Lead Generation Specialist at Tech387. After pursuing the opportunity for some time, I was pleased to join the team and contribute to its growth and success. This role allowed me to gain entry into the company, but it was not without its challenges. Looking for potential clients and individuals to collaborate with was a challenging task. The uncertainty of whether anyone would respond to my efforts added to the pressure. Despite these challenges, I remained determined to find a better-fitting role within the company.

After six months of hard work, I  got promoted to the position of Talent Acquisition Specialist. In this role, I played a critical part in the hiring campaign. While holding the Talent Acquisition Specialist role, I had to identify job openings, review resumes and applications, conduct interviews, and make hiring decisions. I held this position for nine months before realizing that judging people's fit for the company was a burden I found difficult to carry.

My success in the company opened up new opportunities, and I got a chance to advance my career. Today, I am proud to be the People Operations Manager at Tech387, potentially the youngest person in the region to hold this position. I am excited to bring my experience and insights to this role, and I look forward to contributing to the continued success of Tech387.
